Jerome Home Receives Grant from the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain for Low Vision Equipment
Larry Tilford, a low vision resident of Arbor Rose at Jerome Home, reads his prescription bottle with the help of the Prisma, a full color magnifier that connects to a standard TV and magnifies text and even photos up to 52 times. The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain donated $700 to The Margaret (Rau) and Rudolph Kloiber Memorial Fund at Jerome Home to purchase the Prisma for use by its residents.
The Margaret (Rau) and Rudolph Kloiber Memorial Fund was established by the Kloiber's son, Edgar (a resident of Jerome Home who passed away in 2006), in honor of his parents, who owned the New Britain Dry Cleaning Corporation. In 2002, he established a field of interest fund to continue their legacy of commitment to the blind. Rudolph had been a member of the Lions Club Committee for the Blind, and the Kloiber’s Main Street store included a recreation center for the blind.
