On May 21st, 1900, Mr. Augustus Smith Jerome signed his will leaving his money and belongings to various charities and individuals. Included in this will was a paragraph that requested that a home be established for infirm men and women in the New Britain vicinity. Mr. Jerome died in 1905. Soon afterwards the planning for Jerome began. In 1932 the doors opened to meet the needs of the elderly community.
